Bjarte Bogsnes was 'doing' Beyond Budgeting before the name was even coined and he has continued to work with and advocate for these ideas ever since, latterly as the leader of Beyond Budgeting in Equinor, the giant Norwegian energy company.

So there is no better qualified person to guide you through the topic and help you work out how to apply them to make your organisation more successful and humane.

There are no relative goals that I can use in my company. Does this mean I can't 'do' Beyond Budgeting?

Relative goals are only a (small) part of the Beyind Budgeting Model. We are pragmatic...the key is to find better ways of targeting that traditional fixed annual goals.

My boss/Head Office/The 'Street' demand budgets. What can I do?

In our experience these kind of fears are often misplaced. At the end of the day what everyone want is better performance...they are less interested in how this is achieved. And in practice we find it is always possible to introduce elements of the Beyond Budgeting models within the constraints imposed by the outside world.

What is the best place to start?

We have some recommendations but in practice the answer to this question will depend on the issues faced by your own organisation. This is one of the things that we will figure out in this workshop!
