Presenting Sense

Mastering the science of measuring performance and the art of communicating it effectively

Masterclasses

Our masterclasses are hosted by experts in their field, usually the author of published books. They take the form of a short presentation where our expert introduces the key themes and concepts followed by sessions where attendees work with real life cases, usually their own, guided and instructed by the expert.

Masterclass sessions usually have no more than 12 members to maximise meaningful interaction between the expert and participants.

Masterclasses are usually commissioned and hosted by a company but our experts are available to organisations interested in running open workshops.

Mastering the art and science of reporting

Traditional methods of analysing and reporting on performance, based on variance analysis and tables were developed in an era when there was little data, when computers did not exist and we had relatively little understanding of how the brain processes information.

This masterclass will help information professionals transform the quality and usefulness of their reports using tools familiar to every practitioner.

This masterclass is hosted by Dr Steve Morlidge, author of 'Present Sense' and will help attendees address many common challenges including:

  • Why don't traditional methods of analysing performance work very well?
  • What exactly is 'performance' in your organisation?
  • How best to measure trends?
  • How can I distinguish between meaningful signals and irrelevant noise?
  • How do I know when performance is 'off track'?
  • How does our brain process images and how does this help me design better charts and tables?
  • How best to present information to decision makers?
